Resort landscape and sculptural layout
The brief was to make an international resort read as unmistakably Sri Lankan. The response was a landscape built from cultural fragments rather than decoration: an artisan village where crafts are worked in the open, an amphitheatre for performance, still ponds that carry the building's reflection, lotus-form fire bowls that combine flame and falling water, bird sculptures in the guest rooms, and a life-size elephant at the arrival court.
The objective was restraint and authenticity — cultural identity expressed with structural discipline.
